Frequently Asked Questions
For any additional questions please contact a collision specialist at Harley-Davidson of NYC's Collision Center at 718-707-9300 ext. 134.
Do I need an appointment for an estimate?
No. Have your bike dropped off or towed to our facility at 42-11 Northern Blvd, Queens, NY. Do not ride a motorcycle that could be unsafe due to collision damages. Our team will help arrange for your motorcycle to be towed to our facility.
Will Harley-Davidson of NYC's Collision Center tow my bike from an accident scene or from my home after being damaged in an accident?
Harley-Davidson of NYC does have a courtesy pick up and delivery system. Often bikes damaged in an accident require special equipment to recover them from the roadway, in this instance we can help facilitate acquiring the correct transportation company.
How long will it take to get a completed estimate?
On average we require 3 working days to provide a thorough estimate. Minor repairs may be estimated the same day.
What information do I need?
You will need to provide your insurance company name, contact with phone number and a claim number to ensure a smooth and fast repair process. You can never provide us with too much information.
Do I need to get more than one estimate?
No law requires you to get more than one estimate or appraisal on your motorcycle. You have the right to get as many estimates you may want to make an informed decision about your repair options. Your insurance company may recommend a reputable repair center in your area but cannot require you to go to a particular shop. It is your choice who repairs your vehicle.
Do you charge for estimates?
Yes, we charge two hours of labor for each estimate. Insurance companies usually will cover this fee with the cost of your repairs. If you choose not to have the vehicle repaired at our Collision Center then you are responsible for the estimate fee.
Will parts be ordered before I drop my bike off for repair?
Once an estimate has been performed and we have an agreement with the insurance company in the form of a two party check, then we will begin the parts ordering process.
Can you match the paint color?
Today’s motorcycle finishes incorporate multiple layers of highly specialized paints. Parts damaged will be ordered directly form Harley-Davidson already painted with the factory finish.
Can I get other service work performed on my motorcycle while it is in the collision center?
Yes. Often times this is the perfect opportunity to upgrade your baby. Parts enhancement or labor may be partially paid for by your insurance coverage. If you are considering options please speak with your Collision Specialist before parts have been ordered. Remember that the damage from the collision must be fixed and payment for a deductible is still the customer’s responsibility.
How long will the repairs on my motorcycle take?
Your Specialist can give you an estimate of time to complete repairs based on the specific nature of your damages. Keep in mind, painted parts from Harley-Davidson Motor Company can take anywhere from four to eight weeks to be delivered and some factory custom painted products and Anniversary colors can take longer.
Do I have to pay a deductible?
The amount of any deductible is determined by your insurance company. If you are not sure about your deductible call your insurance agent and they can advise you.
Insurance checks written to you are often not sufficient to repair your motorcycle. By having Harley-Davidson of NYC's Collision Center perform your estimate and double check an insurance adjuster's estimate you can be assured your motorcycle will be fixed properly the first time. If the check is written to you and H-D of NYC or just to H-D of NYC, we must use that money to repair the motorcycle and cannot return any unused funds to you without the permission of the insurance company who wrote the check.
If your bike is a total loss, we can help establish a value for your motorcycle to ensure you are reimbursed for the actual replacement value. In the event your vehicle is totaled we can connect you with our Sales Team who will be happy to help get you back on two wheels!
